Mirrorless question of the month:

I'm currently using a Sony A6300 with a Tamron 18-200 lens, but I need to get a greater amount of zoom for animals & birds. There are almost no E-mount lens options, or they cost over $2,500.00. I went to my photo shop for advice or options, and they suggested going to a full frame Sony and cropping to get closer, not an option I'm interested in. I suggested maybe a Sigma 100-400mm with Canon to E-mount adapter, but the shop said focusing would be slow. I then mentioned an Olympus E-M10 Mark II (new M1 too pricey) with the Olympus 75 - 300 lens, giving me 600mm effective zoom without bulk. But the shop disagreed saying the photo quality/sharpness wouldn't be that good.; particularly zoomed in or cropped. Looking for other input or ideas, whether with Sony or something else. Or am I just out of luck? Really love the podcasts, keep up the great work! Also, I'm very happy using Luminar for my photo processing. Thanks for everything.

It's hard to choose one episode, PPN is my favorite podcast. I came first to learn about mirrorless gears but I discovered and learn a lot during the camera & inspiration weeks. One of my favorite is the episode #10 with Kevin Mullins, his own story and the way he's focusing on the story moved and inspired me. The work of James Ravilious and the way he documented life of North Devon was also a great moment during this podcast. I would love to have the cosyspeed camera bag, I think my old em10 would fit perfectly in it ;) please continue your great works.

I think my favorite episode would be the inspiration episode when Scott talked in detail about his bird photography. I've been shooting a lot of birds since then. Thanks for a great show and congrats on the anniversary

I don't recall which episode, but I am always curious to learn about new gear, and in this particular episode Scott talked about some new lenses from Olympus. He mentioned how easy it was to nail the focus with these new f1.2 lenses. I have been seriously interested in photography for the last 10 or so years, starting out with a Canon Digital Rebel and then moving up to a Fuji x100t. My current goal is to get an Olympus body, with the new 45mm f1.2 lens because my main interest is shooting portraits of my grandkids. I always gain some useful information from every one of your podcasts! And you both have the best voices to listen to!

Very hard to pick a favourite episode since I have enjoyed them all so much, but two come to mind. First, the photography and inspiration episode where you discussed Fan Ho, because I had never heard of his photography work, and it’s really amazing. Second, the recent more gear show where Marco went through the various Fuji gear and lenses because I am fairly new to photography and am using a Fuji system (xt20) so it was really helpful to get a rundown of the different lenses. I really do love all of your podcasts though and think that you two have a really great and honest dynamic along with great guests. Keep it up!

I liked the episode were Scott was giving Marco a lesson on how to do bird photography.
It was very informative for Marco, myself and all the other listeners. Scott explained it very well!
The other good part of the episode was that a very experienced photographer like Marco, was out of his comfort zone, and he was learning something new.
Just shows that you can teach an old guy new tricks!
Enjoy all your shows!

I really enjoy your show and like others say it's hard to pick one, the most recent one that I found enlightening was when Marco answered questions about lens adapters. I was only half listening because I don't have any old lenses, but I thought I'd likely learn something so I had left the podcast on, when I heard something about brand to brand lens adapters. I went back and listened to the whole thing again to make sure I got everything! I have a Canon 6d and a fuji x-t20 and I would love to be able to use my Canon L series lenses, like my macro and longer length telephoto lenses, with my fuji which I primarily use as a street photography camera so I don't have a large lens library (only the 18-55 that came as a kit lens actually). I did some research and found that the adapters I would want (with full functionality) are still very new, so I'm going to let other people test them out and come back to this in 6 months or so and see which one has the best reviews. Thanks for all the helpful Q&A and inspiration!

I really enjoy all of your podcasts but the recent episode with Bill Wadman particularly stands out. It was interesting to hear Bill in that context. You had a great conversation together.

Although I really enjoyed the interview with Bill Wadman (which has led me to start working my way through *his* podcast), my favorite was the episode with Kevin Mullins. His emphasis on using photography to tell stories perfectly echos Marco's own advice. Thanks for your podcasts, gents--I enjoy them as soon as they roll out.

Like Scott I'm an old timer who's been shooting for 55+ years, mostly as an amateur with a few paid wedding gigs thrown in. I've followed Scott's bird photography for some time and love his work. Scott's bird photography is outstanding! Keep up the good work on the podcasts.

My favorite episode was the Marcos interview with Bill Wadman. I listen to Bill on his podcast but it was nice to hear him talk at length about his work. Marco did a great interview, kept things going, asked good questions but most of al let the subject talk without interrupting. Like Scotts specific instructions on shooting birds too. I'm not a bird shooter..but had a couple of bald eagles move into the neighborhood so I had to learn and Scott jump started that learning

After a 25 year hiatus I'm getting back into photography, PPN has been a fantastic bridge to help bring me up to speed. I found the discussion of the possibility of Global Shutters to be particularly interesting. As well as the discussion about adaptors.

I liked most your PPM podcast episode with Jamey Price.

He does amazing pictures from racing I have never seen before. And he seems to be a very grounded, natural and a friendly guy.

I’m a racing fan here in Germany as well, but my pictures have been a little boring sometimes. He really inspired me with his ideas. I’m looking forwards for my next race to do it better!

Favorite We Shoot Mirroless was the one with Scott and giving his tips (instructions) on bird shooting. Really helped me as I am new to birds. Simple advice like it's best to have the sun to your back helped me instantly. Of the inspiration podcasts I liked the interview with Bill Wadman. Like Bills work and he rarely goes into great depth about his own techniques. good stuff

I believe my favorite show of the year was episode 10 of the Camera and Inspiration show #10 in January with Kevin Mullins. I'm a big fan of his work and approach. I enjoy all of the episodes but if I have to pick one, this would be it! I would love to have any of the prizes! Thanks for the good work and happy anniversary! Here's to many more years! I’ve been listening to Marco + Scott since the early We Shoot Fuji days; I love the inspiration shows and the interviews, but quite surprisingly to myself my favourite PPN episode was Q&A #9 – most of the questions either were ones that I was wondering about or didn’t even think about wondering about. :)

I have listen to your podcasts since "We Shoot Fuji" and have enjoyed all your episodes. Always like the Inspiration shows but the one that I have referred back to the most is the More Gear Show #10 where Marco gave all that great information on the Fuji Mirrorless Camera and lenses (to use with my Fuji T10 and M1).

Hi guys. Love the shows and have been a listener since the first 'We Shoot Mirrorless" episode.
I'm an Olympus EM-1 owner, so my favorite episode is the one where Scott talked about the Olympus OM-D lens range and gave his picks for some of the best lenses in the system. Great information - but not so great for my wallet! :-)
Look forward to listening to each new episode - here in New Zealand!
Keep up the great work and inspirational, informational podcasts.

It is a difficult question. I like the different topics of each episode. If I had to pick one, then I would choose the interview with Valerie Jardin. I like streetphotography, and this was one if my first PPN-podcast, I listen.

My favorite episode is not special one, but all episodes of the "Camera & Inspiration" show. The recommendations of the photographer and the photo book have inspired me more than once.
I hoped of many further episodes!

My favourite episode? Hard to say. My favourite series is "Camera & Inspiration". I very appreciate the different approaches to photography. However, there was also a Q&A podcast about ND filters. You explained in detail the advantages and disadvantages of each system. That was very helpful.

Good luck for the next year of photopodcasts.com!!!

My favourite episode was the one about PRINTING. I went to Whitewall and order a few photos (A3 and A4 size). I have my computer color calibrated however, I don't know if it was the paper, the brightness or anything else, I get my better printed photos (especially the black and white) but they weren't correct: there was a subtle but obvious difference in color. I'll try again because I enjoy so much my pictures hanging on the wall. but I have to correct something.

My favorite we shoot mirror less show was also the show where Scott was talking about bird photography. Although I'm not a birder, I try the occasional bird shot. I had never thought, that I should take the wind direction into account.

From the whole PPN network my favorite show was the recent camera and inspiration show with with Jeff Widener. What a fantastic photo, that I remembered in the German Stern from my childhood. I wasn't aware what a fantastic second story was behind this picture. Thank you for pointing that out.

Overall, thank you for the great educational and inspiring content.
Keep on the good work
