Here are the questions that Marco answers on this episode:

1. Hi Marco, I've heard you make the argument in favor of tilt LCD screens on cameras and that they can be very useful and sometimes can get you shots that would be hard to get without it. I’m in the process of buying a new camera and want to buy one with a tilt LCD. But there are different kind of flip and rotating screens and I’m wondering where the advantages of the different kinds are? I’m doing mainly interior and outdoor photography.
Thanks!
Question from: Melissa from Boston, Massachusetts

2. Hi Scott & Marco, why is it that documentary photography and street photography work better with wider angle lenses than tele lenses? It feels much easier to get a clean, nondistracting image when I zoom in closer to the subject. Thank you!
Question from: Piotre from Krakow, Poland

3. Should I buy a kit lens bundle as they are often a good value or rather buy the body only and use the extra money for the better lens that I really want?
Question from: Frank from Brisbane, Australia

4. Hi Guys, one questions from Cologne in Germany: If you could look in your crystal ball, would you see 3rd party lens producers like Tamron, Sigma or Tokina to develop lenses for Fuji in the future? I only know about Zeiss and Samyang which are no real serious competitors for Fuji lenses. Thank you, and have a nice X-Mas.
Question from: Daniel from Cologne, Germany

5. I have a question about TETHERING. I’ve got a FujiFilm X-T2, great camera, and I’ve got a 27” retina iMac, so in that respect, tethering at home is no problem. But if I’m shooting portraits outside the home, or doing real estate photography, it’s not practical to bring a desktop computer. I don’t have a laptop, but I do have a WiFi only iPad Air (about 3 years old) which has a lightning connection (pretty sure it’s lightning). Is there a cable, and/or a workflow that will at least give me a preview of my images on the iPad Air, without interfacing with a desktop, laptop or cellular connection? I’m not concerned about making adjustments with Lightroom Mobile, or saving them to the iPad. It’s all about seeing the images larger, and giving the client a sneak peak. Thanks in advance for the advice and love the show!
Question from: Brent from Pittsburgh, PA (USA)

6. Listener reply to Warwick’s question from last week:
How confident should I feel about my computer being able to read my Nikon and Fuji raw files in say 20 years time?

Answer from listener Marc:
Marco, I have to tell you, that the TIFF format is an ISO standard, so you will get software to read the files even in 100 and more years! I work in the digital archive business for 13 years now! Best regards.

Hi Marco, thanks for a shot at some good Software! I’ve already used the free trial and would love to win a copy to either transition away from Lightroom or have it as another effective tool.

Hi Scott & Marco! I wish you all the best for 2018, may you always have great light! Thank you very much for all your work with the podcast, I really appreciate that. Hearing your voices is always one highlight of my personal week and it really motivates me in my photography. Thanks also for giving away one license of Luminar. I'm desperately looking for an alternative to LR and I've already tested Luminar. Can't wait for the DAM features! Greets from Frankfurt/Germany.

I’m looking for an alternative to the adobe subscription model. I love Aurora HDR and am anxious for Luminar’s DAM capabilities to come. I currently am experimenting with Capture One but I’d like to use software that is faster and more intuitive to use. I want to streamline my workflow to allow myself more time to write and shoot images for my blog.

I do have a Lightroom workflow but would love to try Luminar 2018. I have heard a lot of good things about the software and with Scotts involvement, it can only get better.

Hi Marco,
I would love to win Luminar because I still work with Aperture and don't like the thrill with every Mac OS update until I find out if Aperture still works... ;-) With a decent DAM, Luminar could be a good successor.

Oh, regarding the tethering question (5.): Maybe using a WiFi-SD card could be a solution. Cards like Eyefi or Toshiba FlashAir create a WiFi hotspot that the iPad can connect to and you should be able to access the pictures while shooting. I don't use these cards but this sounds much faster than the painfully slow image transfer using Fuji's IOS app.

After many years I am re-entering the photo hobby. My new camera is a Fuji X-T20 and I need a serious photo-editing software. Luminar is the right solution.

I still use old version of lightroom and still haven't decided to upgrade to Adobe Photography Plan yet. Getting Laminar would be a good solution compares to monthly payment to Adobe.

Thanks for the shows... I thought one of these had the opportunity to win the Aurora HDR - but can't seem to find it in the notes... been looking at this one for a while and intrigued with the possibilities. Would love to try it out. Also think Luminar is pretty intriguing too. Thanks again for all the work you put into this!

Hi Marco, I've used previous Macphun apps and really enjoyed them (still using Tonality on occasion when not using Acros filter on my Fujifilm Xpro2). I am looking to move away from Lightroom in the next six months, put my website back up (blog and gallery) and may go for this part-time teaching gig for photography at a local community college I just learned of earlier today. I've been photographing for the last 15 years and when I saw a demo of Luminar 2018 at PhotoPlus Expo in NYC, it looked so intuitive and powerful! I am planning to purchase it later this spring if I don't win the free copy, but would love to be able to get it for free as well. Thank you for a great podcast and the opportunity.
