This is episode #10 of the Camera and Inspiration show at “PPN - Photo Podcast Network” for January 2018.

This show is sponsored by: PhotoShelter-Where photographers get work done!

  • Marco invites Kevin Mullins as a guest for this camera & inspiration episode. Kevin is an amazing documentary and award winning wedding photographer from England. Brides go absolutely crazy when they hear his name. He is a Fujifilm ambassador, but no matter what kind of camera you put in his hand, he will tell amazing stories with it.

  • Kevin picks this month inspirational photographer: James Revilious (1939 - 1999) worked as an art teacher at Hammersmith College in England. He was inspired by an exhibition from Henri Cartier Bresson’s work and started documenting life in the area of North Devon. This project turned into a quest. You can see some of his images here: http://www.jamesravilious.com/gallery.asp

  • In the main part of this episode, Marco and Kevin discuss different aspects of the topic: “Why should one work in a documentary style instead of staged photography?” Kevin has implemented the documentary style into his wedding and social photography.

  • Marco’s inspirational photo book of the month is called: “The Documentary Impulse” - by Stuart Franklin.

Thank you for the great show. I would love to win the copy of Aurora HDR 2018 I have recently switched from Photoshop to Luminar 2018 and love it.

Another great podcast! Winning a copy of Aurora HDR would be fantastic as I shoot many bracketed landscape photos and Photoshop HDR is lacking the features I would like. Thanks!

My experiments with tHDR look artficial or synthetical too often. I would very appreciate a HDR software which gives more control about the process than Lightroom does.

Thanks for your podcasts series. "Camera & Inspiration" is insightful. "Why" is more important than "with which"!

Great show as usual! I think the format of the shows are a great mix - having the inspirational book and guest photographer works well and makes it easy and inspirational listener.
For my entry to win the HDR program:
Winning the HDR software would help me do the single most important thing I struggle with: getting out there and shooting more often. I find once I'm out of my house and taking photos life becomes more enjoyable, I appreciate the world around me, and, importantly, I relax. I already use Luminar for my photo edits. Adding HDR software will give me NO excuses not to get out and experiment with HDR landscapes.

I love Kevin's approach to weddings.
I would like to try Aurora HDR with my landscape photos. See if it works better than Lightroom.

Excellent episode: I particularly enjoyed being tipped-off about the photography of James Ravilious. I didn't know his work at all before, but I do know and love the graphical art prints of his father Eric, and here's some background you might find interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Ravilious

I'd love a copy of Aurora HDR - I use HDR and image blending regularly for landscape photography, aiming for a subtle and natural-looking approach. This seems to be readily achievable in Aurora, so I think it would suit me well.

I just return from shooting few waterfalls and the contrast was too high for my camera's dynamic range. Instead of doing it myself, Aurora HDR would make it much quicker and no doubt more pleasing as well.

Like many, I am awed by what Trey Ratcliffe has done with HDR techniques. I see many opportunities to use HDR methods to explore my photographic visions. What better way to embark on HDR than with the software that Trey uses. And if I could do it for free......well, that would be nice. Danke!

Bought Luminar a few months ago and would love to team it up with Aurora HDR. It sounds like it would be very useful for my photography.
Keep up the great podcasts. Very informative

Great interview with Kevin. Thanks! I would love to win Aurora HDR, to include in my digital processing toolkit the means to create HDR files from my hiking excursions.
